Both entertaining and informative, these sample thematic programs provide an opportunity to hear some of the great works from contemporary flute repertoire.  Other special programs available for related disciplines, including acoustics, mathematics, linguistics, and movement-based disciplines.

New Music Demystified: What is "new music"? Explore the progressive use of harmony, range, extended techniques, and blending of genres such as jazz! (Debussy, Varese, Stockhausen, Saariaho, van der Aa, Hosokawa, Noguera Palau) 1-2 hours

Musique Fatale: Program of music composed by women from all regions of the world showcasing the exemplary presence of women composers in the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. (Saariaho, Ran, Triana, LeBaron, Hoover, Noguera Palau, Izarram Jolas) 1.5-2 hours

 

On the Wild Side: In addition to the beautiful, tranquil side of the flute, 20th- and 21st-century composers have tapped into the flute as a powerful expressive force capable of both serenity and explosive ferocity. (Colgrass, Murail, Takemitsu, Sciarrino, Yun, Donatoni, Ferneyhough, LeBaron) 1-1.5 hours

 

Top of the Pops: Music heavily influenced by jazz, folk, and popular genres has taken classical concert stages by storm as 20th and 21st century composers exploit the full sonic range of the flute family. (Clarke, Reich, Mower, R. Dick, Granados, van der Aa) 1 hour
